ICRC Receives Groundbreaking Study on the Interrelated Impacts of Yemeni Migration

Sana’a, Yemen – In a reaffirmation of the commitment of both local and international institutions to advancing scientific research and understanding social challenges, the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, witnessed the handover of a comprehensive study titled "The Interrelated Impacts of Yemeni Migration" to the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Yemen, Ms. Christine Cipolla. The handover ceremony took place at the delegation’s headquarters, attended by several prominent figures from both public and private institutions.

This study sheds light on the multiple dimensions of Yemeni migration and its impacts on individuals and communities, in addition to exploring the roles Yemeni diaspora communities can play in supporting local development. Two printed copies and two electronic copies of the study were presented to ensure wider access for researchers and stakeholders.

Attendees included Mr. Al-Ezzi Al-Salwi, member of the Publicity Committee and Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates; Dr. Amr Madikarib Al-Hamdani, member of the Publicity Committee and member of the Shura Council; and Ms. Ikhlas Abdullah, Head of Marketing at Al-Alamiya Group. The attendees gave a detailed briefing to the Head of Delegation on the study’s preparation phases and its main objectives, emphasizing its importance in understanding Yemen’s social and humanitarian context.

For her part, Ms. Cipolla expressed her deep appreciation for this substantial research effort, noting that it represents a qualitative addition to the ongoing efforts to analyze and understand the challenges facing Yemeni society. She affirmed that the study would be of great benefit to her team, helping guide the ICRC’s strategies and programs in line with the actual needs on the ground. She also promised to hold an urgent meeting with her assistants to discuss the study in depth and develop a plan to utilize its findings and recommendations.

The Al Khair Foundation for Social Development was the leading entity that carried out this comprehensive study on the interrelated impacts of Yemeni migration. The research spanned nearly three years, focusing on analyzing migration issues and their various effects on local communities and the national economy. The Foundation worked diligently to collect the necessary data and information for a deeper understanding of this significant social phenomenon.

At the close of the meeting, Ms. Christine Cipolla welcomed these proposals, commending the presence of national economic entities such as Al-Alamiya Group that demonstrate social responsibility by supporting such initiatives.
