Part 6- Literature of Yemeni Migration

This part of the study states the migration and migrants in contemporary Yemeni literature – depictions of migration and its causes in narrative and poetic texts, by the researcher, Mohammed Abdulwahab Al-Shaibani, in which he attempts to inductively analyze prominent literary models (narrative and poetic) in contemporary Yemeni literature that addressed the issue of Yemeni migration during the 20th century to Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, America, and the Gulf, while the researcher Mohammed Sultan Al-Yousefi addresses the migration and alienation in Yemeni singing. He presents several poetic and musical works that deal with themes of Yemeni migration throughout history.

In his turn, the researcher Fouad Ali Al-Sharjabi discusses diaspora artists and their positive influence on spreading Yemeni identity and culture, stating two types of artistic migration: Artistic migration that settled in host countries, with the artist gaining citizenship. Or artistic migration where the artist resided in the host country without obtaining citizenship. He also examines the impact of diaspora artists and their ability to spread Yemeni identity in all countries they migrated to.
