The life and achievements of the deceased:
Sheikh Saleh Ahmed Al-Faqih passed away in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Saturday, December 21, after moving there with his family as a result of the civil war in Sudan. Al-Faqih was a prominent figure in the Yemeni community in Sudan, as he founded the Yemeni community that played a pivotal role in hosting and deporting tens of thousands of Yemeni expatriate families who sought refuge in Sudan due to wars and conflicts in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Chad and the Central African Republic.
During the seventies and eighties of the last century, the Yemeni community in Sudan demonstrated a great ability to respond to the needs of immigrants, through the units and branches of the community that Al-Faqih established in various Sudanese cities and regions. These efforts represented a living example of solidarity and cooperation among the people of one nation.
Importance of the study:
The study of the reciprocal effects of Yemeni migration comes at a critical time, as it highlights the economic, social and cultural changes that migration has brought about on immigrant and host communities. The delivery of this study to the family of the deceased reflects the great appreciation for his achievements and his role in promoting Yemeni identity abroad.
