As part of ongoing academic and research efforts aimed at documenting the Yemeni migration experience and its social, economic, and cultural impacts, Sheikh Ali Mohammed Mansour Al-Shawafi, one of the prominent figures and dignitaries of Taiz Governorate, received a copy of a comprehensive study entitled The Mutual Impacts of Yemeni Migration. The study was presented by Dr. Amr Maad Yakrib Al-Hamdani, member of the Registration Committee and member of the Shura Council, along with Mr. Al-Ezi Al-Salawi, member of the Registration Committee and Advisor to the Ministry of Expatriate Affairs. The handover comes within the framework of initiatives aimed at spreading knowledge and sharing the findings of this study with various social, academic, and national figures. The study explores different dimensions of Yemeni migration, from its effects on host communities to its direct impact on Yemen itself, through remittances, knowledge transfer, as well as the social and cultural transformations that have shaped contemporary Yemeni identity. It relied on both qualitative and quantitative data, in addition to real-life testimonies and experiences of migrants and their families. Sheikh Ali Mohammed Mansour Al-Shawafi expressed his appreciation for this research effort, affirming that Yemeni migration is one of the most significant phenomena that deserves in-depth study due to its wide-ranging influence on the lives of millions of Yemenis at home and abroad. He further emphasized the importance of utilizing such studies in shaping future policies that are more aware of the opportunities and challenges tied to migration. It is expected that this study will contribute to raising awareness of migration as a central component of Yemen’s reality and serve as a starting point for further studies and constructive dialogues that help harness the expertise of expatriates and employ it in support of national development.
