Naseem Hamed
Naseem Hamed, Known As "Naz" in Britain and nicknamed Prince Naseem, is a Former Yemeni-British Professional Boxer. He was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England on February 12, 1974 to Yemeni parents originally from the village of Malaḩ, District of Al A'rsh, City of Rada'a in Al-Bayda Governorate, central Yemen.
Naseem trained under Irish boxer Brendan Ingle and showed his unique boxing talent at age seven. He competed from 1992 to 2002, fighting 37 matches and winning all but one. Naseem's only defeat was against Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera in April 2001.
His final match was against Spanish boxer Manuel Calvo on May 18, 2002. During his career, he held multiple featherweight world championships and was ranked by BoxRec as the greatest British featherweight of all time. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2015 in recognition of his achievements.
He held the International Boxing Organization (IBO) featherweight title from 1995 to 2000, the IBF title in 1997, and the WBC title from 1999 to 2000. He was also the IBO champion for the second time from 2002 to 2003.
Additionally, he held the European bantamweight title from 1994 to 1995. He won many other titles between 1998 and 2001. Naseem married a British woman named Eleasha, with whom he had three children. His youngest son, Adam, continued the legacy following his father's path, achieving remarkable success from his first match.
